Green River Star > Opinion > Editorials > Time for state to consider solar power: "The “spill” in the gulf caused by BP has brought the need for alternative energy to the forefront like just about nothing before. Americans are outraged at pictures of helpless gulls and pelicans, turtles and dolphins trying to escape the oily mess that has become their home. And that’s not to mention the economic impact the disaster is having one those who depend on fishing along the coast for their livelihoods.
It really is time to find other ways of satisfying our energy needs.
Many places -- including parts of Wyoming -- are turning to wind power for electricity. The process of erecting giant turbines through wind-rich states seems to have developed a life of its own. Aside from having to look at those gigantic wind mills and listen to the constant whirring of the blades, wind power is probably a great thing.
But what about solar power?"
