Solar give a Lake Worth home a $8.50-a-month electric bill

Solar-powered home gives Lake Worth pair a sunny outlook - and an $8.50-a-month electric bill: "LAKE WORTH — Mark Parrilla and Jeff Stendel invested in solar power last fall so they wouldn't have to pay electric bills for their home on South A Street — and so they could feel good about reducing their carbon footprint.
'It's such a great feeling,' Parrilla said. 'You've got this power plant on top of your house.'
As Earth Day approaches on Thursday, it makes them feel proud.
'I like the idea that I'm not polluting the atmosphere and that I don't have to use energy to make energy,' Stendel said.
The green-shingled home with a flower garden by the front door has 26 solar panels on a south-facing section of the roof, along with a thermal panel for the water heater. The panels aren't visible from the street."
