Austin firm to build solar thermal power plant: "Austin-based ThermalSoul unveiled plans this morning to build the state’s first solar thermal power generation facility in the Austin area. When completed, the facility will generate up to 10 megawatts of electricity and power up to 9,000 homes.

Solar thermal energy is an emerging technology currently in use at small sites both in the United States and globally. It is commonly used for site specific applications like heating swimming pools although there are several thermal solar power plants operating in the California and Arizona deserts."
