More than 500 solar panels will begin to appear on the roof of MassMutual's Springfield headquarters this month as the life insurance company aims to cut its electricity and fuel bills.
The project - which will include traditional solar panels, as well as thermal solar panels used to heat water - is expected to generate roughly 130,000 kilowatt hours a year, or enough to power between 17 and 26 average Massachusetts homes, a company spokeswoman said."
