Solar rebates on hold, leaving homeowners holding the bag: "TAMPA - So you missed last week's deadline to get a rebate on a new solar energy system or water heater?
Don't worry about it. The people who made the deadline aren't getting any money either, at least not for a while.
Florida's four-year-old solar rebate program ran out of money last year. But the program wasn't set to end until June 30, so the state kept the offer going. Now it has a list of about 11,200 unpaid claims.
Not all of those have been reviewed and approved, but the ones that have amount to $14.4 million, said Rob Vickers, director of the Florida Energy and Climate Commission, which runs the program.
All 11,200 represent $41.6 million in rebates that homeowners are expecting to receive."
