Public News Service: "TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Time is running out for Gov. Charlie Crist to call a special session of the Florida Legislature to consider a constitutional amendment banning oil drilling near Florida beaches. Some Republicans, who oppose the amendment, support the idea of a special session to also consider tax relief for those affected by the oil spill.
The Florida Wildlife Federation is the organization that first proposed the amendment. Its president, Manley Fuller, says the Legislature must vote by August 3 to put a drilling ban for state waters on the November ballot."
